Required Tools and Materials:
Laminate installation kit (including spacers, tapping block and pull bar.
Table or Hand Saw
Carbide-Tipped Circular Saw Blades
Age-resistant, non-permeable polyethylene barrier (0,008in or 0.20mm) for installation over concrete.
Laminate Underlayment Padding
Be sure to use safety glasses and gloves during the cutting process of these materials. Lamiante may create wood dust in the cutting area. Please be sure to install and cut materials in well ventilated areas.
General Requirements for all types of Subflooring:
BBW Floorings laminate flooring can be installed over most floors such as Vinyl, Tile, Concrete and Sheet flooring. Check to ensure that all substrate is structurally sound and immobile. Before unstalling flooring, be sure that the subfloor is leveled properly. Irregularities in the subfloor should be smooth using a hydraulic cement base patching and leveling compound. Suspended wood subfloors shuold have a minimum of 18in(45cm) of well ventilated air space above the ground.
New concrete subflooring should be cured for at least 90 days prior to installation. (Moisture Test: Moisture Vapor<3lbs/1000sqft/24 hours per ASTM 1 869 cacium chloride tests).
Install 0.008(0.20mm) age-resistant, non-permeable polythylene vapor barrier over the concrete subflooring. Seams must be taped using adhesive tape such as duct tape. The vapor barrier should be installed up the wall by 1in(25mm).
Sheet Vinyl, Tile and Wood Subflooring moisture content of the wood subfloor should not exceed 12%.
Remove deep pile carpeting and padding prior to installation of the laminate flooring.
BBW Flooring lamainte floors can be installed over industrial dorect glue-down carpetingthat has been installed over wood subflooring without padding.
Carpet installed over concrete must be removed. Please see instructions for installations over a concrete subflooring.
Radiant Heating Systems:
BBW Flooring's laminate flooring can be installed on under-floor radiant heating systems id the heating element is installed into wood or concrete subflooring.
Lower heating systems to 60°F(16°C) for 1 week before installation.
After installation, slowly increase the temperature in increments of 10°F(16°C) per hour.
Surface temperature must not exceed 85°F(28°C).
Follow installation instructions for wood or concrete as outlined above.
It is important to allow BBW Flooring's lamainate flooring to acclimate to the room temperature where it is to be installed by placing the packaged flooring flat inthe room for a minumum of 48 hours prior to installation. Do not remove the plastic wrapping from the flooring. Be sure that the room peperature is in the range of 65-75°F(18-20°C).
Determine which direction to lay the planks. If installing in a narrow hallway or small room, the area will appear larger if the flooring is laid parallel to the longest wall.
Remove all existing moldings on the walls and any staples or nails.
If the room has electric baseboard heaters, leave a minimum of 1/2inch(12.5mm) between the surface of the flooring and the bottome of the heaters. This will allow for the heat to circulate.
Be sure to check all door clearances, making neccessary adjustments before laying the flooring.
Door moldings (jambs) should be undercut to accommodate the thickness of the flooring and foam underlaymnet.
Install underlayment per manufacturer's instructions.
BBW Flooring comes with a Manufacturer's limited Wear Warranty. The warranty applies to the original purchaser of the flooring. It warrants the original purchaser that the finished surface will not wear through from the date of purchase. Please contact out customer Service Representative by calling out toll free number for a written copy of the detailed terms and conditions of coverage and limitations.
